After three years of working, I finally get to cross off another goal on the publishing bucket list -- The Amazon Orange Sticker status.
Better than that? My daughter's reaction.
The scene: Aaron is wrapping up the edits of his next book in the Salted series, Above The Salt. Taking a break, he decides to jump on over to Amazon for a quick peek at the bestseller charts and sees the attached screenshot.
His eldest daughter, Little Miss, wanders into the office just as her dear old dad nearly loses his mind at seeing his Salem books at #2, #3, and #6 in the paid bestseller charts. (*Yes, he knows he mentioned 'bestseller' twice. It's a goal he's been working toward for three years now. Cut him some slack).
Aaron: Hey, Little Miss! Come here. You wanna see something cool?
Aaron picks her up, sets his daughter in his lap, then points to the screen.
Aaron: Look at that! Those are daddy's books!
Little Miss then points to the evil, vile, 'shall not be named' book ranked at the #1 spot whose position Aaron has been trying to takeover for awhile now.
Little Miss: I like that one 'cause it's pink and it's got a heart on it.
Aaron sighs as his entire publishing journey has just been summed up in one sentence by a 4-year-old.
P.S.- Congrats to a worthy opponent, author Melissa de la Cruz, for continuing to hold strong at #1. My daughter is STILL talking about your book and asking me when I'm going to write one that has a pink cover. ;)

UPDATE: An hour later, this happened.
And so it was that Amazon decreed, 'Thou shall receive a sticker, Aaron Galvin."
And. it. felt. glorious. :)
Thank you to all the readers who helped me climb this mountain by sticking with this series. Hopefully this is just a sign of greater things to come! #NEXT
